Sustainability Advisor
Alix McKenzie
Growing up in idyllic Awhitu Peninsula, Alix developed a love for nature from a young age.
It is this love of New Zealand’s beautiful landscapes and the desire to preserve them for future generations that set Alix on a path to become a sustainability advocate.
Alix’s rich experience involves acting as an Ambassador for the Auckland Council, educating tourists about protecting Great Barrier Island’s environment and keeping it pest-free; as well as working as a Biological Controller, tackling invasive weeds around Auckland, using a variety of insects and fungi as bio-control agents.
Previously, Alix was also the Head of Sustainability at a popular Auckland hairdressing salon. Working there taught Alix the importance of engaging small businesses in sustainability efforts.
Having recently completed a Bachelor of Applied Science, specialising in Environmental Science and Biodiversity Management, Alix is looking forward to applying her knowledge and practical experience to help Carolyn steer the Green Business HQ ship (with zero emissions).
Alix is a woman of many talents and as well as sustainability, she is also passionate about painting and film photography.
